Standard Chartered hires Peter Kay

Standard Chartered hires Peter Kay from Societe Generale for a newly created role in leveraged finance syndicate.

Peter Kay has joined Standard Chartered Bank as head of leveraged finance syndicate, based in Hong Kong. He joins from Societe Generale where he was most recently head of leveraged finance syndicate for Asia and Australia.

Kay's position has been newly created within Standard Chartered's capital markets team. He will report to Philip Cracknell, who is the global head of syndications at the UK-listed bank.

Kay will be in charge of leveraged finance within the syndications business and responsible for building the specialist function and upgrading its capabilities. He will also manage key relationships with corporate and institutional investors and will work on transactions originating from Standard Chartered's acquisition finance team.

Kay has over 19 years of experience in leveraged finance across Europe, the United States and the Asia-Pacific region. Before joining Societe Generale, he worked with the HVB Group, J.P. Morgan and Dresdner Kleinwort Benson.
