HSBC trade services promotes Wee

HSBC strengthens its trade services offering by promoting Desmond Wee to a new regional role.
The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation has appointed Desmond Wee to a newly created role as head of sales Asia-Pacific for trade services and supply chain.

Wee will lead efforts across the region to develop and execute a sales strategy for business customers spanning small businesses to multinational corporations.

ôIn todayÆs market, clients of all sizes are increasingly turning to HSBC for advice on best practices in traditional trade as well as emerging trends such as end-to-end financing of their supply chains,ö says Wee in a written statement. ôOur solutions help clients maintain a competitive edge.ö

Wee last held the position of sector sales head for Asia-Pacific payments and cash management for HSBC. He joined HSBC in 1996 as a management trainee. During his 11-year career with the bank, he has held roles in both relationship management and cash sales management.

Wee will be based in Hong Kong and will report to Lawrence Webb, global head of trade services and supply chain.

HSBC has been focusing on building its global trade services and supply chain business. The role which has been created for Wee is one more step in this direction.

Wee attained both his bachelors and masters degrees in Singapore and is also a chartered financial analyst.
