UBS beefs up China wealth management team

The Swiss bank appoints LH Koh as head of a new team in China, based in Hong Kong.

UBS is expanding its wealth management business in China by appointing LH Koh as one of its team leaders in the country, based in Hong Kong.

Koh will report to Francis Liu, regional market manager for China, according to an internal memo seen by FinanceAsia. The team to be headed by Koh is new and therefore an expansion of the China team under Liu’s leadership.

Koh is a 20-year investment banking veteran and joined UBS in 2010 as the head of corporate advisory group Asia Pacific. He has helped in the establishment of the group and since last year, the expansion of the team’s mandate with the launch of institutional solutions group in the region.

Bryan Crawford will succeed Koh as head of Institutional Solutions Group (ISG) for Asia Pacific, reporting to Amy Lo, head of ultra high net worth (UHNW) Asia Pacific, and Gianluca Gera, global head of the ISG group.

Crawford will join the UHNW team from UBS’s investment banking department in London, where he has been the global head of global family office advisory since early 2012. He was responsible for delivering direct corporate client solutions coverage to wealth management’s most important family office clients.

He started his 18-year investment banking career at Goldman Sachs and also ran a technology team for the investment bank department of JP Morgan, founding a joint venture between JP Morgan’s private and investment banks. He will be first based in London and then relocate to Hong Kong later this year.

Both of the appointments will be effective on October 1.
