Deutsche GTB makes Malaysia hires

Yusoff Hassan takes the role of head of cash management corporates, while Oon Li Sar is named head of trade finance.
As part of its ongoing global transaction banking (GTB) expansion, Deutsche Bank has announced two new hires in its Malaysian operations. Yusoff Hassan and Oon Li Sar will lead Deutsche's cash management corporates and trade finance businesses respectively. The firm projects rapid growth for its Malaysian transaction banking franchise, and predicts future expansion of its GTB team in both the cash management and trade finance businesses in Malaysia.

Hassan will answer to the title of head of cash management corporates Malaysia with immediate effect. From Deutsche's Kuala Lumpur offices, he assumes responsibility for growing its target market, expanding its product offerings and leading its strategic growth plans in Malaysian corporate cash management.

For Deutsche, Hassan will report to Thomas DuCharme, regional head of trade finance and cash management corporates, Asia-Pacific, and bring over 10 years of experience to the new role.

Prior to his new post, Hassan worked for HSBC Bank Malaysia. For HSBC he held the title of division head for payments and cash management sales with responsibility for the overall sales strategy of the cash management business.

Oon will come on board as the new head of trade finance for Malaysia. She takes on the role in Kuala Lumpur with immediate effect and will be responsible for local trade sales and the expansion of DeutscheÆs trade finance offering in Malaysia. In the newly created role, Oon will report to Roger Packham, Deutsche BankÆs head of trade finance, Asia-Pacific.

Oon jumps to Deutsche GTB from Citigroup in Malaysia. At Citi she was the team head of FI cash and trade sales and held responsibility for the overall sales of the financial institutions cash and trade business of the bank in the Malaysian market.

Before holding this role at Citi, Oon was the team head of global client services at Bank of America. In total she brings 10 years of banking experience to the new position.

Her appointment comes as Deutsche has been actively bolstering its trade finance business. Recently, the firm lured Wang Tao from HSBC to lead its trade finance efforts in the booming China market. Prior to this appointment, Deutsche brought in Low Yang Sun to its GTB franchise in Singapore as head of trade finance and cash management for corporates in Singapore and promoted Nathchanya Davivongse as head of trade finance and cash management corporates for Thailand.

DeutscheÆs trade finance hiring splurge began in December 2005, with the appointment of Packham who joined from Citigroup after seven years at the US bank.
