New cash management head at HSBC Singapore

HSBC Singapore appoints Iain Taylor as its new head of global payments and cash management.
HSBC Singapore has appointed Iain Taylor as the bank's local head of global payments and cash management.

Taylor assumed the role from David Katiforis on January 1, 2009. He previously served as HSBC Asia-PacificÆs regional head of market development for global payments and cash management. Taylor has prior experience within his new business area from HSBCÆs local operations in Indonesia, New Zealand and South Korea.

ô[Taylor] has the necessary skills and expertise required to lead the development and growth of our business in Singapore,ö says John Laurens, HSBCÆs head of global payments and cash management in Asia-Pacific. ôHis strong client orientation and front line experience will serve our clients and the continued development of our Asia-Pacific cash management franchise extremely well.ö

Under TaylorÆs helm, HSBC Singapore hopes to expand transaction banking services to various multinational, regional and small- and medium-sized enterprises.

ôSingapore continues to develop in its own right as a regional financial and treasury centre and there is a greater need for specialised cash management products and services in the corporate and institutional space,ö says a HSBC representative. ôAs a senior member of our leadership team, Iain's appointment evidences our commitment to meeting our clients' emerging demands in this important regional hub.ö

Upon his departure from Singapore, Katiforis has assumed a senior management position with HSBC Australia.
