SSB names Williamson as head of equities electronic trading

Gavin Williamson spearheads Salomon Smith Barney''s drive into electronic trading.

Gavin Williamson joins Salomon Smith Barney as vice-president and head of equity electronic trading and external connectivity. He will cover Hong Kong and the Pacific Rim region, from his base in Hong Kong.

Williamson has 22 years' experience in global financial markets. He was previously a director and co-founder at Liberty, which was bought by Reuters in 1998; an operations director at ADP; and an international development manager at Citibank, in Colorado.

"Gavin’s addition will be an extremely important step in building our customer connectivity business in the Asia-Pacific region," says Jim Lehman, managing director and head of the firm’s electronic connectivity and trading unit, New York. "He will spearhead our commitment to electronic management of orders and standards to make electronic trading a reality for this region and improve its access to global markets."
