Linklaters litigator returns to HK

UK law firm adds partner to Hong Kong litigation team.

James Gardner has returned to Hong Kong after a five-year spell in London. The Linklaters' litigator first practised in Hong Kong in 1996-98 and is returning now to work alongside Marc Harvey, head of the 18-strong litigation practice.

Gardner's practice focuses on complex derivatives disputes, contentious insolvency work for investment banks and multi-jurisdictional commercial claims for companies. He qualified to practise in Hong Kong under the pre-handover regime, which was in effect an automatic system for English lawyers, and became a partner in 2001.

"James's return to Hong Kong reinforces the team's expertise in handling international banking and commercial disputes," says Harvey. "His track record in high-value litigation, and his experience working with banks and corporates around the region, will enhance our ability to provide practical solutions to business issues encountered by our clients."
