Citi strengthens its financial strategy group

Citi adds Arun Bansal as a managing director to head its financial strategy effort in Asia-Pacific.

Citi announced in an internal memo on Friday that Arun Bansal will be re-joining the firm as a managing director to head its financial strategy effort in Asia-Pacific. He will be based in Hong Kong and report to Farhan Faruqui, head of global banking Asia-Pacific, and Carsten Stendevad, global head of the financial strategy group. 

The financial strategy group is Citi's corporate finance advisory and analytical team within its investment bank. The group advises global corporate clients on corporate finance issues including valuation, capital structure design, acquisition strategy, funding strategies and liability management, risk management, shareholder distributions, and credit ratings.

Bansal joins Citi from Towers Watson where he led the capital markets solutions business. Prior to Towers, he was a managing director and head of the capital structure solutions team at UBS. 

He has 20 years of experience advising clients on capital structuring, financing strategies and hedging issues. Earlier in his career, from 1997 to 2003, he worked with Citi as a director in the financial strategy group, focusing on Asian and Latin American clients.

Bansal holds a PhD from the Stern School of Business at New York University and a B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi, India.
