ABN AMRO strengthens corporate finance team

The bank has strengthened its corporate finance team in Hong Kong with two hires to cover telecoms, energy and utilities.

ABN AMRO hired two directors yesterday (Wednesday) to strengthen its corporate finance team in Asia. Wu Gang and Stephen Edwards join the firm in Hong Kong to cover the telecom, energy and utility sectors.

Wu has 13 years experience in the industry with stints at Goldman Sachs and Hill Samuel Bank. Prior to joining ABN AMRO, Wu was with Merrill Lynch in London, advising on high-profile telecom sector acquisitions, equity and bond offerings in Europe. With Wu's addition to the team, ABN AMRO hopes to serve telecom clients and capitalize on his expertise in China and other emerging markets. Wu replaces Neil Galloway, who has been transferred internally to the client coverage team for the telecom sector in Hong Kong.

Edwards has spent a major part of his 14-year career in Asia. For six years until last year, Edwards headed Deutsche Bank's investment banking and project finance team in Hong Kong serving clients in the energy, utility and transportation sectors in the region. Edwards has also worked at Deutsche Morgan Grenfell in Singapore and Morgan Grenfell in London.
