JP Morgan hires Edmund Lee as Singapore head

Edmund Lee set to join JP Morgan as its head of Singapore from DBS Vickers Securities, according to an internal memo seen by FinanceAsia.

Edmund Lee will join JP Morgan later this year as the New York bank’s senior country officer for Singapore, according to an internal memo seen by FinanceAsia.

He joins JP Morgan from DBS Vickers Securities, a Singapore-based securities and derivatives brokerage wholly-owned by DBS Bank, where he has been chairman and chief executive for 12 years.

Lee partly replaces Philip Lee who left JP Morgan in early April to join Deutsche Bank. Philip was chief executive of Southeast Asia investment banking as well as chief country officer for Singapore for JP Morgan.

Lee’s move is subject to regulatory approvals.  He will report to Rob Priestley, chief executive of the ASEAN region for JP Morgan.

He will lead JP Morgan’s franchise in Singapore across all lines of business and manage relationships with government, business and regulatory bodies in Singapore.

At DBS Vickers Securities, Lee oversaw DBS Vickers’ business operations across Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, London and New York. He brings almost 30 years’ of industry experience, and relationships with local business leaders and regulators, to JP Morgan.

Lee was educated at The Leys School in Cambridge, England, and obtained a Bachelor of Economics from the University of California at Los Angeles.

JP Morgan will shortly operate out of two locations, a refurbished Capital Tower and a new office, One@Changi City, in Singapore.
