National Australia Bank and FinanceAsia will host a live webinar on December 3 featuring the Treasurer of New South Wales and Minister for Industrial Relations, Andrew Constance, who will talk about investing in infrastructure assets.

As the largest state in Australia, the NSW government is preparing to sell 49% of its electricity distribution assets to private sector investors via a long-term lease structure. In a deal worth an estimated A$40 billion, the government will sell majority control in Ausgrid, Transgrid, and Endeavour Energy, three power distributor-transmitters with combined annual earnings of A$2.1 billion in 2012.

During the webinar, Mr Constance will discuss this opportunity and present an overview of the NSW government’s asset recycling programme, including the potential unlocking of A$20 billion in new road and rail projects.

The webinar will bring together institutional and corporate investors, project sponsors and financiers, to discuss Australia’s credit environment and NSW’s position as an attractive investment destination.

Steve Lambert, executive general manager of capital financing at National Australia Bank, and colleague Fiona McIntyre, NAB's head of energy, utilities and infrastructure, will talk about why infrastructure assets are a natural fit for institutional asset owners.

They will explain how Australia is at the cutting edge of project finance, with new structures and funding formats being developed to ensure that projects come to fruition. Australia’s banking sector has a long-standing track record in tailoring the right packages to attract investors.

Participants who sign up for the free webinar will, in turn, be given the opportunity to ask questions of the NSW Treasurer and NAB representatives.

The webinar will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, between 2.30-3.30pm AEST in Australia, and 11.30am-12.30pm HKT/SGT.
