Sidley Austin appoints partners

Sidley Austin Brown & Wood''s appoints partners in Tokyo and Hong Kong.

To further strengthens its Asia regional practice, Sidley Austin Brown & Wood, has appointed 2 new partners in the Hong Kong and Japan office respectively.

As a former consultant in the finance team at the Hong Kong office, Gloria Lam was just appointed partner. Likewise James V. Robertson was appointed a partner in Tokyo too.

In the past 13 years, Lam's principal areas of practice have been corporate finance, securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, securities regulatory advisory work, sino and foreign joint ventures, general corporate, and general commercial transactions.

Robertson, a fluent Japanese speaker, has worked on several major securitization transactions throughout Asia in the past. These include work in Korea as well as Japan with securitised assets including consumer loan and credit card receivables and commercial bills. Also, Robertson’s practice includes cross-border joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions.

Over the last few years, the firm has grown to nearly 90 lawyers (including sixteen partners) in its five Asian offices.
