Morgan Stanley builds private wealth team

The bank promotes Leslie Menkes as head of onshore private wealth management for Asia, while Su-Shan Tan rejoins the firm as head of private wealth management for Southeast Asia and Australia.
Morgan Stanley has promoted Leslie Menkes as head of onshore private wealth management for Asia.

In this newly created role, Menkes will oversee the strategic expansion initiatives of the firmÆs private wealth management (PWM) division across the region, including new markets such as India, which will launch operations in the near future, and other key Asian markets.

In addition, Menkes will continue his responsibilities as head of client solutions, providing senior management oversight for both the managed products and capital markets businesses. A 20-year veteran of Morgan Stanley, he will continue to be based in Singapore and will join the global private wealth management executive committee.

"Asia is one of the fastest growing regions in the world for the private wealth management industry. As our business continues to expand, we remain focused on staying at the forefront of product and platform innovation. With nearly 20 years of experience in the business, and having originated many of our differentiated offerings, Les is well-positioned to drive our growth initiatives," says Charles Mak, Morgan StanleyÆs head of private wealth management for Asia.

Su-Shan Tan will succeed Menkes as head of private wealth management for Southeast Asia and Australia. She rejoins Morgan Stanley from Citi Private Bank where she was head of Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei. Prior to joining Citi in 2005, Tan was with Morgan Stanley for eight years. Upon her return to the firm in May, she will oversee all private wealth management activities in Southeast Asia and Australia from Singapore and become a member of the Singapore executive committee.
