Merrill adds Shiroshita to Japan IB team

Shiroshita moves from Bain Capital to help increase Merrill's coverage in Japan.

Bank of America-Merrill Lynch has appointed Junichi Shiroshita as a managing director in its investment banking team in Japan. He will be part of the bank's leadership team, working to expand its coverage in Japan.

Shiroshita has over 20 years of industry experience. He comes to Merrill from Bain Capital Japan, where he was one of the founding members of its Japanese operation. Before that, he was the head of Morgan Stanley Japan's GIG team. In his eight-year stint at Morgan Stanley, Shiroshita specialised in advising companies in the metals, automobile, machinery and pharmaceutical sectors. He has worked on transactions for a range of major Japanese companies -- including JR East, Nissan Motor, Toyota Industries, Mitsubishi Motors, and Kawasaki Steel.

He started his career at J.P. Morgan and also worked five years as a management consultant for Boston Consulting Group, focusing on industrial and pharmaceutical companies.

Shiroshita is an economics graduate from the University of Tokyo and has a masters degree in accounting and finance from the London School of Economics and an MBA from Insead.
