Julius Baer hires new China managing director

Pauline Chung joins the Swiss private bank's growing China team.
Julius Baer has appointed Pauline Chung as managing director, market head of China.

Chung will focus on developing the wealth management business relationship with China. She will be based in Hong Kong and report directly to Andrea Benenati, CEO North Asia.

During her 22-year career in private banking, Chung has held numerous senior positions. Most recently she was the head of China for HSBC Private Bank. Prior to this she worked as country team head of China for UBS for more than seven years. She has also been a team head for the Hong Kong market at various wealth managers including Royal Bank of Canada, Bank of America and Citibank Private Bank.

Chung's appointment comes on the heels of other China-focused staff hires. Recently Anita Li joined as relationship manager for the China market. She previously worked in a similar role at HSBC Private Bank. Prior to this she worked for Charles Schwab and Morgan Stanley.
