Credit Suisse hires Ben Ngai from Citi

Ngai returns to his former employer as a director of financial sponsor coverage with a focus on China.
Credit Suisse has re-hired Ben Ngai from Citi as a director of Asia ex-Japan sponsor coverage with a particular focus on China, as the bank continues to strengthen its business in the region.

In this newly created position, Ngai will be responsible for introducing opportunities to private equity clients. He will be based in Hong Kong and report to Matt Whineray, head of sponsor coverage in Asia ex-Japan, and Zhang Liping, chairman and head of China investment banking.

ôBenÆs appointment drives us forward in this important business. His unique experience across asset and industry classes and in China gives us an added dimension in providing advice to our clients in the region, especially with growing private equity activity in Asia,ö says Whineray in a written statement.

Ngai has previously worked at Credit Suisse as an investment banking associate and has extensive experience in coverage and execution, spanning various industry sectors and products. Since leaving the Swiss investment bank, he has worked with ABN AMRO as a director of corporate finance and most recently with Citi as a director in the financial entrepreneurs' group.

Earlier this year, Credit Suisse advised private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts on its $713 million leveraged buy-out of Singapore precision engineering company MMI.
