China’s domestic competition, weak demand, to spur overseas investments

Chinese overseas investments, including in emerging markets, should boost the domestic economy; meanwhile, US president Donald Trump and China have extended a ‘tariff truce’ until November 10.

Intense domestic competition and flagging domestic demand in China will accelerate Chinese overseas investments, according to research from Moody’s. Chinese overseas expansion will boost China’s economy, but weaknesses in the domestic economy will stymie overseas investments.
