James Chu joins Standard Chartered

Chu will lead the distribution team in Hong Kong focusing on secondary loans and other capital markets products.
Standard Chartered Bank has appointed James Chu as regional head of distribution for Northeast Asia in an attempt to boost its global investor sales and capital markets team.

At Standard Chartered Chu will oversee the distribution team in Hong Kong and concentrate on the distribution of secondary loans and other capital market products to client banks. The bank also expects Chu to optimise the sales process and strategy. He will report to Wolfgang Beckmann, the bankÆs global head of distribution, global investor sales and capital markets.

Chu was previously a director and head of investment products and business development in the investment and financial products division of American Express Bank. During his four years at American Express, he was in charge of a team of product specialists and the origination of new investment strategies and products. Before that he had also spent about 10 years at HSBC Asset Management, working in various positions in Hong Kong and London.
