JP Morgan names Apac equities head as Leung steps up

Charles Chiang fills the void left by Mark Leung's appointment as CEO of the bank’s China businesses.

Charles Chiang has been promoted to head of Asia Pacific equities at JP Morgan, according to an internal memo seen by FinanceAsia.

The promotion follows Mark Leung’s recent appointment as CEO of the bank’s China businesses to spearhead the bank’s expansion into the newly deregulated onshore securities market.

In this role, Chiang will oversee the bank’s equities, prime, futures and options execution and clearing platform in the region.

Chiang was promoted in May to sole head of global delta one trading, a role he will combine with his new duties.

Chiang, a London School of Economics and Imperial College graduate, has been at JP Morgan since 2013, after a career in Asia with Citigroup, Deutsche Bank and Nomura.

Chiang will report to Jason Sippel head of global equities in London and Nicolas Aguzin, chairman and chief executive officer for Asia Pacific.
