JP Morgan hires from Deutsche for senior China role

The addition of Chen Lan will strengthen JP Morgan's China dealmaking capacity across sectors.

JP Morgan has hired Chen Lan from Deutsche Bank as its vice-chairman of global investment bank for China, the company said in a statement on Friday.

Chen, who has more than two decades of deal-making experience, has been with Deutsche since 2011, when she joined to head its coverage efforts in the world’s second-largest economy. She held several senior roles at Deutsche, including co-head of China investment banking and most recently head of corporate finance.

In her new role, Chen will act as a client executive and provide senior coverage support to JP Morgan’s China investment banking team, working closely with Houston Huang, head of global investment banking for China, according to the statement.

“We continue to invest in our franchise in China to capture the long-term growth opportunities. The scale, strength and stability of our platform positions us well in helping our clients navigating through all market conditions,” said David Li, chairman and chief executive of China at JP Morgan, said in the statement.
