ABN hires McCann

A new head of CB trading at the Dutch bank.

ABN AMRO has recently hred Neil McCann to be its new head of Asia convertible bond trading. McCann will be based in Hong Kong and be a director with the firm.

He joins ABN AMRO from Cantor Fitzgerald in Hong Kong where he ran the convertible desk. Prior to that McCann worked for Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch and Nikko in Hong Kong and London in a 13 year career trading convertibles.

The move is the latest in a string of hires by the Dutch Bank. Six months ago, the bank moved Alastair Barr from Australia to Hong Kong to be the bank's new head of Asian equity with a remit to rebuild its equities business. Since then he has hired around 25 new staff, with a further 15 in the pipeline. It is understood that the region's headhunters are already referring to him as Father Christmas.
