United Overseas Bank (UOB) has appointed Tit Khuen Pang as senior trade product manager in its Singapore head office and Rafiah Mohamed Izam to be the new Malaysia head of trade product development.

Pang is responsible for management, planning and development of the bank's trade and financial supply chain products for corporate customers. He is also charged with developing strategies for UOB to expand its trade business in Singapore and Southeast Asia. Pang joined the bank in January and reports to John Kong, first vice-president and head of cash management and trade services at UOB.

The bank currently has three people working on trade and supply chain products.

Based in Kuala Lumpur, Izam is charged with managing and developing the institution's trade product solutions in Malaysia. She reports to Andre Lee, head of transaction banking for UOB in Malaysia.

Both Pang and Izam have extensive trade experience. Pang joined the bank from DBS where he was head of the bank's regional trade product team. Prior to that role, he worked in various executive positions with DBS and HSBC in China and Singapore.

Izam has worked for more than 20 years in the Malaysian banking industry with both foreign and local institutions in a number of trade operations and services roles.

UOB reported an operating profit of S$3.33 billion in 2009, up 4.1% from a year earlier, on operating income of S$5.4 billion. Revenue in the bank's institutional financial services segment, which includes cash management and trade finance, rose 1.7% to S$2.13 billion over the same period.
