Win a case of champagne

Each year we award a case of champagne to the person who can predict the level of the FinanceAsia 100 at the end of the year. The 2007 winner was Morgan StanleyÆs Sophia Liao, who predicted the index would finish at 2,300 on December 14 - only a few points below the dayÆs actual closing level of 2,307.9.

This year's competition to predict the closing level of the FA100 in 2008 is now open. The winner will be the person whose prediction is nearest to the index's closing level on Friday, December 19.

The FA100 had something of a rollercoaster ride last year, although ultimately it delivered strong performance with a gain of over 35%. After smashing through 2,400 points for the first time in October and hovering in the 2,300 range early this year, the index is currently below 2.200 points. Continued volatility now seems almost guaranteed, but will 2008 also be another year of strong growth for the index?
