US federal trade court makes major tariff ruling; appeals court pauses

Three judges at the US Court of International Trade have argued the Trump administration has exceeded its authority over tariffs; the judgment, which came after 12 states filed a lawsuit, has been appealed and the decision temporarily paused by another court.

On May 28, the US Court of International Trade, a federal trade court based in New York, made a ruling that US president Donald Trump's administration has been exceeding its authority when it comes to implementng tariffs with a major judgment.
