Julius Baer has appointed Thio (Henry) Tjia Hin and Cindy Tang as senior relationship managers in Singapore to help develop the bank's client base in the Southeast Asian market.
Wilfried Kofmehl, CEO Singapore and head of Southeast Asia at Julius Baer, notes that: "Julius Baer is highly committed to the Asian market. We firmly believe in the region's continued growth potential and the wealth management opportunities it will create."
Hin brings with him 20 years of banking expertise that he gained at Citibank and at Goldman Sachs, where he most recently held the position of executive director, private wealth management. Tang can look back on almost 20 years of experience at HSBC and most recently UBS, where she was executive director in the key clients team.
Julius Baer has been selectively building its team in the region, while other banks have been cutting back on their private banking businesses -- most notably UBS, which announced last week that it was reducing its wealth management team in Asia by 240 people. Such moves give boutique firms like Julius Baer an opportunity to cherry pick talent.
