JPMorgan has announced a reshuffling in its Japan real estate research team. Hirokazu Nihei joins the team in Tokyo, while Douglas Sung expands his role in the department.
Nihei brings over 16 years of real estate coverage to JPMorgan Tokyo. The move is described by the bank as a reaction to increasing investor interest in the Japanese property sector. Over time, JPMorgan plans to augment Nihei's analyst role to include the transportation sector, which he has previously experienced as a sell and buy side analyst.
Nihei will now report to Douglas Sung, who has been promoted to head of real estate research Asia, including Japan. The promotion places Asia's largest economy under Sung, who previously ran real estate research for Asia ex-Japan. In his new position, Sung will report to both Shinji Sano, head of Japan equity research, as well as Jose M. Linares, JPMorgan's head of Asia equity research.
