Credit Suisse hires Cordes from CQS hedge fund

Omar Corde's move from UK-based hedge fund CQS to CS's asset management division in Asia signals an emphasis on alternatives.
Credit Suisse has announced the second senior role in its asset management business in the past two weeks. Omar Cordes, formerly of London-based hedge fund CQS, is taking on the newly-created role of head of Asia Pacific distribution for asset management, following last weekÆs internal promotion of Tony Iliya from the fixed-interest team as vice-chairman of asset management for Asia-Pacific.

Cordes returns to a company where he spent five years working out of the London office as head of leveraged funds in the 1990s, and was responsible for raising seed money for hedge funds sponsored by the company. His knowledge and experience of alternative investments will be brought to bear on this new role....
