- The number of IP Internet Protocol phone service subscribers in Japan increased 57.2 percent on the year to 8.3 million as of the end of fiscal 2004, according to the Ministry of Communications report on telecommunications services. Assuming the number of subscriptions continue to grow at the present pace, the number is then expected to reach 10 million this year.
