Fuchs to head Lehman's principal strategies group

Lehman Brothers promotes Benjamin Fuchs from head of Asian equities trading to head of a new principal-based trading business.
Lehman Brothers has named Benjamin Fuchs as head of its principal strategies group in an attempt to expand its principal-based trading businesses in Asia. Fuchs had been head of equities trading in Asia at the firm since March 2005 before taking up his new role earlier this week.

Lehman Brothers has similar principal strategies groups in Europe and the US, and the newly established group to be headed by Fuchs will mainly focus on Asia. The group will be responsible for growing the firmÆs principal-based trading businesses across multiple products and asset classes in the region.

Based in Tokyo, Fuchs will report directly to David Goldfarb, head of strategic partnerships, principal investing and risk, and Hyung Lee, head of capital markets in Asia.

Fuchs has worked with Lehman Brothers since 1995. With 16 yearsÆ experience in the financial industry, he has managed equity financial products, Asian convertible bond trading and Asian derivatives trading. He has been in Japan since 1991 and before he joined Lehman Brothers he worked with Barings Securities, covering index arbitrage trading.
