Royal Bank of Scotland makes senior hires

Japan gets a new COO while Singapore gets a new CFO.
The Royal Bank of Scotland Global Banking & Markets has made a spate of new hires from Singapore to Japan.

It has appointed Ryusuke Otani as chief operating officer for Japan. He joins RBS from Nikko Citigroup where he was most recently chief financial officer.

ôWe are pleased with the impressive background Ryusuke-san brings to RBS and value the tremendous contribution he will provide in supporting our strategic growth plans in Japan,ö says Mike Kirby, chief operating officer for RBS Asia-Pacific.

In addition, RBS has hired a new chief financial officer, Richard Place, based in Singapore. He is ex-Barclays and will also report to Kirby, the regional COO.

Back in Japan, RBS has also hired Mariko Nakamura as a director in the project and export finance team. She will report to Wayne Burdett on a regional basis as head of project and export finance as well as reporting to Shinji Ichishima, chairman GBM Japan.
