RBS promotes internally to strengthen China coverage

Royal Bank of Scotland announces the promotion of Lawrence Lam and Wayne Burdett.
Royal Bank of Scotland has appointed Lawrence Lam as head of global banking and markets in China, reporting to John McCormick, chief executive of Asia-Pacific for the global banking division.

Lam will be responsible for corporate, financial institution, government and public sector clients. He has dual responsibility for the bankÆs wealth management business in the region. Previously Lam was responsible for the Asia-Pacific regional treasury and investor products - trading, sales and structuring businesses comprising money markets, foreign exchange, foreign exchange derivatives, equity derivatives and emerging markets.

McCormick says he is happy to promote such an experienced individual from within the RBS organisation to the key role. "This underpins our desire to develop local leadership in the region. We see this appointment as being critical in the continuing development of our business in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.ö

RBS also announced that Wayne Burdett, currently head of project finance for Asia, has been appointed as regional head of project and export finance to be based in Hong Kong.

The Royal Bank of Scotland is the third largest bank in Europe. In the Asia-Pacific region, it is represented through its GBM division as well as its private bank, Coutts Bank von Ernst. It has offices in Greater China, South Korea, Singapore, Australia and Japan.
