Goldman adds Furtado to ECM team

Goldman Sachs expands its equity capital markets team with a new hire.
Goldman Sachs has expanded its ECM team with the hire of Udhay Furtado. The Malaysian-born banker, who joins as an executive director, brings valuable regional experience to Goldman and has worked in Asian ECM since 2000. Furtado joins the US investment bank with a regional brief which will see him cover clients in China, Hong Kong, India and Southeast Asia.

Furtado started his banking career with Salomon Brothers in London and transferred to Asia with Citigroup.

He joins Goldman from Deutsche Bank, where he was a director, and primarily coverered South and Southeast Asia. His hire will add to Goldman's already strong position in Asian ECM. According to Dealogic league tables, Goldman currently tops the ECM league table with deal volume of $9.7 billion. UBS is in second place with $8.7 billion worth of deal credit.
