Haskins leaves HSBC for Nomura

The Japanese bank dials up a new head of telecoms research.
Japanese bank Nomura has announced that Andrew Haskins has joined the firm in order to boost its regional telecoms research product. As head of regional telecoms research, Haskins will be based in NomuraÆs Asia headquarters in Hong Kong and manage telecoms thematic research in the region.

Haskins will report directly to Stewart Callaghan, the bankÆs head of Asia research division. His arrival at Nomura also represents the latest move by the bank to bolster its regional research product. In June, Callaghan joined the firm from BNP Paribas, who reports to Akihito Watanabe, NomuraÆs head of global research and was given responsibility for building the Asian team significantly.

Before crossing to Nomura, Haskins worked for HSBC for 15 years. Most recently he covered Asian telecoms from Hong Kong. During his HSBC tenure, Haskins covered Japanese, European, US and Asian telecoms stocks.

Prior to joining HSBC, he worked with Mercury Asset Management in London for two years.
