Buford moves to Herbert Smith in Singapore

The law firm launches a US securities practice in Singapore to be led by Nick Buford.
International law firm Herbert Smith has launched a new US securities practice in Singapore, which will focus on Southeast Asia and India.

The practice will be led by Nick-Anthony Buford, who comes to the firm as the first US securities lawyer in Singapore. Buford will answer to the title of senior US securities and capital markets associate, joining from Washington DC-based firm Hogan & Hartson.

Throughout his legal career, Buford has advised underwriters and issuers on international capital markets offerings of equity, debt and convertible securities in Southeast Asia, India and China, and has successfully completed various international capital markets offerings in Singapore, India, Indonesia, Thailand, China and Latin America.

He also brings experience in international offerings of securities sold in the US pursuant to Rule 144A and outside the US pursuant to Regulation S. Buford also has significant experience in cross-border mergers and acquisitions.

Prior to working with Hogan & Hartson, Buford was a US securities and capital markets associate with Linklaters in its Singapore and London offices.
