Bank of America Merrill Lynch has made Chris Gammons head of global capital markets in Asia Pacific, part of a reshuffle of some of the most senior bankers at the firm.
Gammons was most recently co-head of investment banking in Asia Pacific, as well as country executive of Singapore and Southeast Asia.
His move means that Alex To — his fellow co-head — will now take sole control of the investment banking team. And in a partial job swap, former Asia Pacific global capital markets head Peter Guenthardt will take the Singapore and Southeast Asia executive job.
The move follows a series of senior appointments and reshuffles in Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s capital markets team.
The bank named Akram Zaman as head of Asia ECM syndicate last year, replacing Nick Lee. In June, it promoted Devesh Ashra and Conan Tam to co-heads of Asia-Pacific debt solutions.
Gammons joined Bank of America Merrill Lynch in 2010 as head of Asia Pacific financial sponsors. He was picked as country executive for Singapore and Southeast Asia last year, replacing Loh Boon Chye, who became the chief executive of Singapore Exchange in June.
Before joining the US bank, Gammons was the head of Citigroup’s Asia Pacific financial entrepreneurs group, a job he held since 2007.
Gammons will relocate from Singapore to Hong Kong to take his new job. He will report to Elif Bilgi Zapparoli and Jiro Seguchi, co-heads of Asia Pacific global corporate and investment banking, as well as head of global capital markets, Alice “AJ” Murphy.
