Simmons & Simmons has hired Dan Marjanovic, a banking partner, from Norton Rose.

He started working in the Hong Kong office last week and joins from Norton Rose in Australia, where he was a partner and head of the domestic banking and finance team.

His experience includes advising banks, sponsors and corporate borrowers on major cross-border financings. He was previously based in Singapore for more than 10 years and will focus on developing Simmons & Simmons’ offering to sector clients in Southeast Asia.

“Dan’s appointment comes as part of our ambitious growth plans in Asia,” said Simmons & Simmons’ head of Asia, Paul Li. “He is extremely well placed to work with our clients in the financial institutions and energy and infrastructure sectors.”

Marjanovic is qualified in England and Wales, as well as Australia. In 2012, Simmons & Simmons appointed five partners in Asia, including Vivien Yang, a corporate specialist, and Jay Lee and Yongmei Evers Cai, both finance partners.

Simmons & Simmons has applied for a licence to practise in Singapore and, once it wins the relevant regulatory approvals needed to open an office there, Marjanovic will relocate to Singapore to help drive growth in the region.
