That'll do nicely, says Welch

Patricia Welch takes on a new regional role with American Express.

American Express has announced that Patricia Welch will take on the role of regional public affairs and corporate communications officer for the financial services group in Asia.

Welch joins from ABN AMRO where she held the same role. She has been in Asia for the better part of 20 years, and has lived and worked in both Hong Kong and Singapore. Her media background involved a stint as Time Inc's marketing director where she looked after the Fortune and Asiaweek stable, before becoming marketing director of Asia Business News before its merger with CNBC Asia. She then went to ABN where she took on the regional communications role and also held the role of global head of events.

In her new role she will be based in Singapore. Sources close to Welch say she has a deep and thorough knowledge of credit cards and is looking forward to learning more about the possibilities the Platinum card has to offer.
