These awards recognize excellence amongst domestic financial institutions and foreign financial institutions. The latter are covered by categories for foreign commercial bank and foreign investment bank. All other categories are for domestic financial institutions.
The one exception is India where the awards are complicated by the existence of three joint ventures (DSP Merrill Lynch, JM Morgan Stanley and Kotak Mahindra). We have always included the three in the domestic categories, even though a certain percentage of their business is cross border.
