Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer grows to 41 partners in Asia

With the promotion of Ng Kay Ian in Hong Kong and Timothy Wilkins in Tokyo Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer brings the number of partners in Asia to 41.

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has announced the promotion of two of its staff to the partnership. The firm now boasts 41 partners in Asia. Ng Kay Ian joined the firm in 1998 in the corporate practice and has been in Hong Kong since 2000. His practice area covers securities/capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, financings and debt restructurings.

His more recent work includes advising the Singapore government on the privitisation and IPO of the Singapore MRT and helping DBS in its public takeover of Dao Heng Bank. He is a qualified English, Hong Kong and Malaysian solicitor and also speaks Mandarin and Cantonese.

Timothy Wilkins joined the Tokyo office in October 1999 and specializes in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity and IP/IT. His Asian experience includes advising BT on the disposal of shares in Japan Telecom to Vodafone and Bank of Amercia Equity Partners on its investment in New Century GlobalNet. He is graduate of Harvard College, Law school and Business School and is a member of the New York bar. He is a registered foreign lawyer in Japan as well as a Japanese speaker.
