Citi has appointed Kasemsak "Joe" Charoensiddhi, currently a director, to head of Asia-Pacific credit sector specialist. The promotion, which was announced in a release yesterday, took effect on January 3.

In his new role, Charoensiddhi will lead a team of six credit sector specialists, covering all Asia ex-Japan credits. He will report to David Rosa, head of Asia-Pacific credit trading, and will continue to be based in Hong Kong.

Charoensiddhi replaces So-Yon Sohn who led the team before he was promoted to head of credit sales for Asia-Pacific ex-Japan in September last year.

Charoensiddhi joined Citi in 2005. Prior to Citi, he was an analyst with Moody’s, responsible for rating Asian credits in the real estate and power sectors.

“Given the deep bench strength within Citi, we are pleased to have promoted from within. Joe’s in-depth understanding of the high-yield market, particularly the Chinese properties, has been a key to elevating Citi's high-yield credit franchise in Asia,” said Rosa in the release.
