Treasury appointments, October 12

A round-up of the latest CFO and treasurer moves from around the region.

Berjaya Retail: Ho Meng was appointed chief financial officer of the Malaysia-based convenience store chain operator on October 4. He has more than 30 years of accounting and finance experience and was most recently the chief executive of U Television. Ho is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a fellow member of Certified Public Accountants in Australia.

Far East Consortium International: The Hong Kong-based property developer and hotel and car park operator appointed Boswell Wai Hung Cheung CFO on October 5. He replaced Bill Kwai Pui Mok who was appointed president of its recently listed subsidiary, Kosmopolito Hotels International, on the same day. Cheung has more than 14 years experience in accounting, auditing and management and holds a bachelors degree in accounting from Abertay Dundee University, a master of business administration from the University of Leicester and a master of professional accounting from the Southern Cross University. In addition he is a chartered marketer of the Chartered Institute of Marketing in the United Kingdom, a non-practicing member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a Certified Public Accountant of Australia.

Himax Technologies: Jessica Pan was appointed acting CFO of the New York-listed but Taiwan-based semiconductor company on October 1. She temporarily assumed the responsibilities of Max Chan who resigned as CFO on the same day. Pan will still be responsible for her duties as finance and accounting manager.

NIVS IntelliMedia Technology: The China-based audio and video products company announced the appointment of CFO Alexander Chen, who replaced former CFO Simon Zhang, on October 5. Chen joined NIVS from WCT, a remittance service and money transfer company, where he was business development manager. He holds a bachelors degree in accounting from the University of Victoria.

Powermatic Data Systems: Eng Pei See was appointed group accountant of the Singapore-based network products company on October 4. Her executive duties include consolidation of company accounts, managing accounts receivables as well as credit control. In addition Eng will undertake internal audits of overseas subsidiaries when required.

Sihayo Gold: The Australia-based mineral exploration company appointed Danny Nolan CFO on October 1. He was also appointed CFO of Sorikmas Mining, a 75% owned subsidiary based in the Philippines. Nolan has more than 20 years of financial management experience and holds a bachelors degree in business accounting from Monash University. In addition he is a Certified Public Accountant of Australia.
