Deutsche hires ex-Citi banker to head Asia corporate flow sales

Gautam Hazarika joins Deutsche Bank in Singapore to add to the bank's corporate coverage.

Deutsche Bank has hired Gautam Hazarika as head of corporate flow sales for Asia ex-Japan. Hazarika joins from Citi, where he was a director in foreign exchange marketing within the global markets division.

Based in Singapore, and with a managing director title, he will take up a new position selling Deutsche's flow capabilities to multinationals and large-cap companies, mostly on the foreign exchange side through the bank's FX trading platform, but he will also push rates products and other standardised banking products.

Hazarika will sit with the global markets team but will also work closely with the global transaction banking division, which offers cash, custody and trade solutions to the same client base. He will report to Daniel Mamadou and Venky Vishwanathan, the co-heads of debt capital markets and corporate coverage for Asia ex-Japan.

In a media release, Mamadou said corporations operating in Asia will have greater access to the bank's onshore trading capabilities across Asia as a result of the new position. "This is of particular importance given the increased focus on Asia as a source of growth and subsequent need to navigate the region's fragmented currency and interest rate markets," he said.

Hazarika is a veteran Citi banker, having worked in the global transaction services division from 1994 to 2002 and in global markets since then.
