Treasury appointments, April 13

A roundup of the latest CFO and treasurer moves from around the region.

Albedo: Financial controller Lim Yoon Siew resigned from the Singapore-based metallurgical company on March 31. The company is now actively looking for a suitable candidate to fill the role of chief financial officer or financial controller. In the interim, Albedo's remaining finance staff is responsible for all financial and reporting matters.

Chasen Holdings: Group CFO Philip Peng Leong Mak was transferred to a subsidiary of the Singapore-based company as part of an ongoing restructuring effective April 1. John Choy Seng Chew replaced him as group CFO on April 5. Chew joined the company from Compact Metal Industries where he was general manager and CFO for four years.

China Fashion Holdings: Heng Tze Peng was appointed CFO of the Singapore-based company on April 6. Heng is responsible for financial reporting, compliance to listing requirements and the overall management of finance and accounting operations for the men's apparel manufacturer.

Compact Metal Industries: Hoe Seok Foon took over as CFO and company secretary at the company, which specialises in aluminium, following the departure of John Chow Seng Chew to Chasen Holdings on March 31. In the position, Hoe is responsible for overseeing the company's financial management. She has 10 years of experience in finance and accounting with various Singapore-listed companies.

Delta Air Lines: The US airline announced that it has appointed Vinay Dube senior vice-president of Asia-Pacific effective March 29. In this newly created position, Dube will be responsible for leading Delta's Asia team, which includes overseeing all regional financial activities. He reports to Delta's president Ed Bastian. Dube previously served as vice-president of alliance and industry affairs for Delta where he had overall responsibility for Delta's participation in SkyTeam, a joint venture with Air France-KLM and interline and industry relationships.

Kingstone Energy: The Hong Kong-based company appointed Edward Tao Wai Lee as company secretary, qualified accountant and CFO on April 7. Lee is a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and has more than 10 years of experience in accounting and auditing. He holds a bachelors degree in business administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a masters degree in investment management from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

MFS Technology: The Singapore-based company announced the promotion of Ronnie Chia to CFO on March 31. He has acted as interim CFO since February following the resignation of Peter Tan. Chia joined MFS Technology in 2005 and held the position of finance director for more than four years.

New Lakeside Holdings: CFO Oh Gim Teck will resign from the company effective June 15. Current finance manager Chin Tain Min will resume Oh's duties while the company searches for a suitable replacement. Oh resigned due to the on-going cash flow problems faced by the company and a conflict of interest with the executive directors.

Weiqiao Textile: Zhao Suwen was appointed CFO after the resignation of Qi Xingli on March 29. Prior to her promotion, Zhao was an executive director and company secretary at Weiqiao Textile. In the new position, she will oversee the group's finance and accounting functions in addition to board secretarial duties. She is a qualified economist and obtained a CFO advanced workshop graduation certificate from Tsinghua University in 2008.

Wepco: The board of directors at Wepco approved the appointment of Tang Lay Hoon to the vacant CFO position on April 1. He replaces Sim Chew Kiang who resigned as finance and administration manager on March 19. Tang joined Wepco as financial advisor in December 2009 and has more than 14 years of financial experience in various managerial positions.
