FinanceAsia held its sixth annual awards dinner in Sydney on Tuesday evening to honour the winners of the 2008 Annual Achievement Awards for Australia and New Zealand. The event was held at the magazine's signature venue, the harbourkitchen&bar restaurant at the Park Hyatt Hotel.
More than 130 issuers, bankers and service providers attended the dinner, including executives from Primary Health Care, Westfield, Macquarie Leasing and NCIG. Award winners gave a short speech when receiving their plaques and the consensus was that 2008 was clearly a traumatic year for the markets. Everyone is hopeful that 2009 will be less so.
The Credit Suisse table picked up a case of wine for winning the trivia quiz, and several lucky attendees walked away with door prizes including Peter Christie from CBA and Jamie Garis from Caliburn Partnership.
