Peter McNulty has been appointed as chief financial officer, Asia Pacific for Barclays Capital. McNulty started his first assignment in Hong Kong this week reporting locally to Jeff Deck, managing director and chief operating officer, Asia Pacific.
McNulty joins from Credit Suisse First Boston where he spent 14 years managing and controlling the global emerging markets and derivatives business while simultaneously being responsible for the consolidation and reporting of financial information. Most recently, he was based in London and has also worked in Dublin, Australia and Singapore.
McNulty replaces John Whittaker who joined Barclays Capital in 1987 and has worked in the London, Japan and Hong Kong offices. Whittaker will continue to be based in Hong Kong for a brief period during which he will hand over the firm's purse strings to McNulty before returning to London.
Whittaker will have global responsibilities for financial control upon his return to London where he will report to Mark Arnold, managing director and global chief financial officer. McNulty will also report globally to Arnold.
