Mark Malouf departs JPM for Credit Suisse

Mark Malouf joins Credit Suisse as head of research sales in Australia after more than a decade at JP Morgan.

Mark Malouf has left JP Morgan after more than a decade to join Credit Suisse as head of research sales in Australia, the Swiss bank confirmed in an email exchange with FinanceAsia late Tuesday.

Malouf was head of Australian equities distribution at JP Morgan, according to a separate Credit Suisse statement.

Prior to joining JP Morgan in 2004, Malouf was a portfolio manager with Macquarie Group in Sydney.

In his new role Malouf will be responsible for "delivering Credit Suisse’s high quality research products to domestic clients in Australia," the statement said, emphasising his experience as an equity salesman and noting his "in-depth expertise gained from working on both the buy side and sell side."

Malouf will report to both Nick Selvaratnam, head of equities Australia, and Hong Kong-based Al Park, co-head of cash equities Asia Pacific.

Research sales trader Edward Clegg left the equities distribution team at JP Morgan a few weeks after Malouf's departure to join CLSA.

JP Morgan told FinanceAsia on Wednesday that Malcolm Price has become head of Australian equities distribution, and Jason Bailey, who started with the US bank in April, has become head of small cap sales.

Prior to returning to Australia for a sabbatical in 2014, Price spent seven years at Deutsche Bank in New York and Sydney. Former roles include head of international equities for the Americas and head of equities distribution for Australia, a source at JP Morgan in Australia said.

He also held a number of senior management roles at UBS in New York and Sydney, the same source said.

Bailey joined JP Morgan from GMP Securities, where he was head of institutional sales, and previously worked in equity research sales at Citi.
