Lehman hires non-Japan Asia strategist

Ex-portfolio manager Paul Schulte will merge credit and currency research with asset allocation and stock picking.
Lehman Brothers has appointed Paul Schulte as chief regional equity strategist for non-Japan Asia. Schulte was previously portfolio manager and head of research covering emerging market equities at Big Sky Capital, which is a $300 million fund of the Wynn Family funds in California.

In this newly created position, Schulte will be responsible for incorporating credit and currency research into asset allocation and stock picking. Based in Hong Kong, he will report regionally to Kent Chan, LehmanÆs deputy head of equity research in Asia ex-Japan, and globally to Ian Scott, who is the firmÆs global and European strategist.

Throughout his career, Schulte has worked for various financial institutions which has given him extensive experience in the research field. Before joining Big Sky Capital he was chief regional strategist in Asia for ING Baring Securities in Hong Kong. He has also worked as chief regional equity strategist for Credit Suisse First Boston (which is now known as Credit Suisse) in Hong Kong, as an economist and equity analyst for Jardine Fleming in Indonesia, and as economic policy advisor for the Indonesian Ministry of Finance.
