ING Barings appoints new Head of Equity Research in Taiwan

Weimin Chang, 32, joins as head of equity research in Taiwan, from Martin Currie, a Scottish asset management company, where he was a fund manager responsible for the Taiwan and Korea portfolios for four years. Prior to this, Chang worked for seven years in Taipei as a financial and equity market journalist, giving him all-round market knowledge and experience.

Commenting on the appointment, Richard Jones, head of equity research for Asia says: "Weimin
has excellent knowledge of the individual stocks in Taiwan as well as a good macroeconomic overview. In addition, his knowledge of regional semi-conductors and downstream technology
sectors will also add significantly to our overall coverage and compliment our existing team in
Taipei. His appointment is the latest in a substantial build plan that we have for our equity markets
operations in Taiwan, and we expect to be making further hires in the future."

Also joining the Taipei team, from Nomura Securities, are Chris Hsieh, 31, and Jessica Chang, 30, who will be covering the semi-conductor sector. Hsieh spent four years as a senior analyst with Nomura and was previously with Capital Securities. Prior to Nomura, Chang worked for Citibank in Taipei for four years. Nicholas Teo, 32, from Grand Cathay Securities Corporation in Taipei, also joins to cover downstream technology stocks.
