The New York law firm continues its Asian expansion with the opening of an office in Shanghai.
New York law firm Fried Frank has opened in Shanghai, less than a year after opening its first Asian office in Hong Kong. The new team will be headed by Michael Hickman, who joined the firm last year as part of an exodus from Simmons Simmons.

The raid on Simmons' senior Hong Kong rainmakers gave Fried Frank a large and credible presence even before its first Asian office was officially open. Now, with Shanghai up and running, it has a team of 40-plus lawyers across both offices, though the firm won't say how many lawyers are based full-time in Shanghai.
