Equity capital markets
Activity in the equity capital markets reached a total of $1.3 billion through 13 issues this week —bringing year-to-date issuance to $121.5 billion, down 17% from the $147.1 billion raised in the same 2010 period.
The top three standings in the league table remain unchanged with Goldman Sachs with $10.4 billion, followed by Morgan Stanley and Deutsche Bank.
Shin Corp’s $302 million offering through sole bookrunner Morgan Stanley was the biggest issue of the week. Lancy also raised $271 million from an IPO brought by Ping An Securities while Tudou Holdings raised $174 million in an IPO through Credit Suisse and Deutsche Bank.

Debt capital markets
It was a silent week in Asia’ G3-currency debt capital markets with zero trades, the second consecutive week without any issuance. Despite the recent lack of deals, the total issuance of $66.3 billion so far this year is up 31% from the $50.6 billion raised during the same period in 2010. HSBC tops the league table ranking with $8.5 billion, followed by Citi and Deutsche Bank.
